Steps to get a real estate license in Dubai

At Plan My Business, we’ve been helping entrepreneurs set up real estate companies in Dubai since 2005. We simplify the entire process into easy, guided steps:

Choose your business structure

Decide whether you want to operate as a Limited Liability Company (LLC), Sole establishment, or Civil company, based on your ownership, business activity, and expansion plans.

Select a legal jurisdiction

Choose between mainland Dubai (regulated by the Department of Economic Development and RERA) or a free zone like Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), depending on where and how you want to operate.

Reserve your trade name

Pick a business name that reflects your activity (e.g., “XYZ Real Estate”) and is approved by the Department of Economic Development (DED).

Apply for initial approval

Submit a request to the DED or the free zone authority for permission to proceed with setting up your real estate company.

Pass the RERA training and exam

Enroll in the Certified broker training course from the Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) and pass the RERA exam to legally operate as a real estate professional.

Secure office space

A physical office address (Ejari registered) is mandatory to issue your business license. We help you find cost-effective options that meet DED or Free Zone requirements.

Submit final documents & pay government fees

Once all documents are ready, submit them to the relevant authority and pay the applicable government and licensing fees.

License issued – You’re deady to start!

After approval, you’ll receive your real estate trade license and can officially launch your business, advertise properties, and onboard clients.
